Major Levelogger Sale - Teagasc

Waterra UK is delighted to announce that it has won a major order from Teagasc (The Irish Agriculture and Food Development Authority) for a large number of Leveloggers and accessories.

The order was won as part of a competitive tender; highlighting our ability to offer both great value and high quality quality technical support.

The Leveloggers are being used by Teagasc as part of a lowland catchment monitoring programme and we look forward to finding out more about the programme findings through 2010.

Take a look at our Leveloggers page for more information on our range of level, temperature and conductivity measurement loggers.

World's Deepest Cave installed with leveloggers!

You may remember in a previous post ("Towards the Centre of the Earth") that Waterra UK was supporting the Aenigma caving expedition to explore some the deepest caves on earth in the Western Caucasus.

We are delighted to report that the expedition achieved its objectives and that Aenigma descended 2,150 metres into the Krubera-Voronya cave. We are even more pleased to tell you that the devices that we provided to the expedition team survived the descent.

The team managed to record some fascinating data on water level fluctuations in the cave system, and have added additional units to study flooding patterns over the next year to improve the safety of further trips to deeper parts of the cave complex.

Waterra has a wide range of water level logging equipment available to cater for a variety of environments.

Groundwater Sampling training course - March 2010

Following on from the success of our previous training sessions we are delighted to announce that the next Groundwater Sampling training course will be held on 24 March 2010.
Delegates at a Waterra Groundwater Sampling training course

The course provides an overview of groundwater sampling methods and some of the theory and research illustrating the pros and cons of purging strategies such as "3 well volumes" and the appropriate use of low flow and passive (no purge) groundwater sampling. It is highly practical and brings together a wide range of different monitoring and sampling devices giving delegates a rare hands on opportunity to weigh up for themselves the practicalities and pros and cons of each.

Since starting this new series of groundwater courses in April 2010, we have attracted a wide range of delegates from different backgrounds. This includes new graduates through to senior environmental managers. The feedback from delegates has been highly complimentary.

"The theory of water movement in boreholes was very useful. The level of
experience and knowledge of the presenters was excellent compared to other
courses provided by consultants!"
Senior Environmental Manager, Consultancy.

"Spot on, very informative and pitched at right level. Team fielded all questions
very well"
Environmental Monitoring Technician, Industry.

Visit the training page on the Waterra website for more information and for booking details.

Waterra - signed up for "green energy"

Waterra is delighted to announce that as part of our commitment to a sustainable environment we have signed up with Green Energy to supply electricity to our offices and warehouse direct from renewable energy sources.

Green Energy provide power from a range of cleaner and renewable energy sources including CHP (combined heat and power) plants, wind and hydro. They are the only fully renewable Energy Supplier in the market.

Peter Dumble Managing Director of Waterra says "We review all our energy supplies annually and are pleased to make this switch. Green Energy are not the cheapest energy supplier on the market, but we were impressed by their ethos and believe it is important that we make this switch at his time".
