You may remember our post last year on Peter Dumble's first trip to Sierra Leone to assist in the re-development of its water management and monitoring infrastructure.
Peter has recently completed another journey to the country and the role of the project has been highlighted in an article published in The Guardian.
The overall project is being run by Adam Smith International on behalf of DfID (Department for International Development). In the first instance experts, such as Peter, are on-hand to design and implement the core systems. However the emphasis is on engaging local communities to take over the collection and monitoring of data. The process of building up local expertise and knowledge means that responsibility can be passed to the people who need it, as soon as possible.
