Dry land rowing - £1,000 raised

Elaine and Peter Dumble -
not getting their feet wet
Further to our recent post about a charity indoor row we are delighted to announce a very successful result!

Peter Dumble (Waterra UK MD) and his wife Elaine both completed 10km in under an hour.  This means that they raised just under £1,000, which was way beyond anything they had expected to achieve.

Peter and Elaine want to thank to everyone who made pledges and donations to their charity effort.  All proceeds are going to The Stroke Association (stroke.org.uk).

Why Multilevel Monitoring?

Multilevel monitoring, in our experience, doesn't always get the attention it deserves in the industry.

It isn't as if the UK doesn't have examples of sub-surface structures that encourage a variety of groundwater flows. We also have plenty of examples of cross-contamination because of complex site conditions. Perhaps it is lack of familiarity with the equipment available?

You can imagine that we were pleased to see that several of the speakers at the recent Solinst Symposium 2010 provided insights into the role and practice of multilevel monitoring. The importance of getting detailed site characterisations to support effective decision making was an on-going theme, and there were a number of examples of how limited investigations failed to identify contamination sources accurately. Beth Parker, of the University of Guelph, provided an insight into her detailed research into groundwater flows in fractured substrates: the highlight being that contamination plumes expand more slowly where fracturing is densest

As you can tell Waterra is enthusiastic about the benefits of multilevel monitoring and we have many years experience in supporting our customers with products and training to back it up. For more information on how we can help you choose the right approach call us today on 44 (0)121 733 7743.

Dry land rowing - for a good cause

Peter and Elaine Dumble.
The next challenge is a 10 km row
As a highly qualified and extremely experienced hydro-geologist and MD of a groundwater sampling equipment company you'd expect Peter Dumble to be something of an enthusiast for all things water related.

So it it might come as a surprise that Peter, and his wife Elaine, are taking part in a 10 km row for charity...on dry land!

Peter and Elaine are fundraising, as part of the Solihull Goldies, for The Stroke Association (stroke.org.uk) and are hoping that public generosity will be sufficient incentive for them to achieve 10 km each.

The Waterra UK team have their own explanation for the non-aquatic nature of the event.  An unknown commentator suggested, "Peter couldn't complete 10 km on water because he wouldn't be able to resist testing out the Telescoop water samplers and stream flow meters."

Donations are gratefully received and can be made online at the Justgiving website.

Peter and Elaine would like to remind you that if you suspect a stroke - ACT FAST.
