Successful slug test demo. No slugs harmed

Waterra-In-Situ's latest "Water Level Measurement using Data Loggers" course was a sell-out success.

"And for my next trick..." Kayleigh Smith
Field Sales Manager (North) in action.
Delegate's branded the training session as being very helpful in developing their understanding of the latest techniques and technology available.

However there were two observations that we found particularly interesting, because they made us stop and consider the state of the marketplace.

One delegate commented that they were particularly pleased in the way that we delivered the course saying that: "I thought that would be all over my head but you explained things in a way that I completely understood."

More than one attendee expressed their delight in getting to see a slug test in practice because most suppliers just assume that everybody is familiar with their operation.

What these comments say to us is that while we can all be thankful for the improvements in the accuracy, reliability and durability of today's water level and water quality monitoring equipment, we have a responsibility to all our users. That means making sure everybody is up to speed not just on the technology itself but on using and applying the technology whoever they are and whatever they need it for.

Fortunately the Waterra-In-Situ team is well-practised in offering practical help and advice. In addition we have water industry practitioners on hand as well as product experts to deal with your requests.

So if you need training, product support or help choosing the right equipment for your level measurement requirements simple call us today on +44 (0) 121 733 7743 or email sales@waterra-in-situ.com.

Our next CPD course is our hands-on Groundwater Sampling Methodology on September 4th 2013.

Waterra-In-Situ supports RedR and HWB: September 2013

Waterra-In-Situ and Peter Dumble are providing technical expertise for monitoring water resources for development workers.

When? From 12-15th September 2013

RedR UK is an international disaster relief charity which trains aid workers and provides skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes worldwide. HWB (Hydrologists Without Borders) is an international register of hydrogeologists interested in development work.

RedR runs a series of "Hands on Weekends" to enhance participants' understanding of the challenges surrounding technical response in humanitarian disasters.

Peter Dumble
From September 12th-15th 2013 RedR UK in association with HWB has organised a  "Developing Groundwater" weekend which aims to develop knowledge of key issues relating to siting and developing groundwater resources for development projects.

This is a challenging  and practical weekend covering the basics of groundwater behaviour,  effective siting methods, drilling specification, contract management and supervision, pumping tests and their interpretation and groundwater monitoring, data management and analysis.

The course is primarily for water engineers and managers involved with development work. This is a really excellent and enjoyable weekend and as an introduction to practical hydrogeology, it delivers lot in a short time frame.

Tom Stone
The course is led by an expert team that includes Peter Dumble of Peter Dumble Hydrogeology (a founding director of Waterra UK Limited, now returned to independent consultancy) . Peter has vast experience related to monitoring of groundwater level and quality for water resource assessments and has been a long-term supporter of development projects in various parts of Africa.

Waterra-In-Situ's Tom Stone will also be on hand to support the event.

This Hands on Weekend runs from the 12th to the 15th of September at Silsoe, near Bedford in the UK.

July Water Quality and Groundwater Sampling Presentation

Networking Event: Waterra-In-Situ's KAYLEIGH SMITH is presenting at ciria

On 10th July 2013 Kayleigh will be presenting "Long term trends in groundwater water quality and sampling techniques" with Sam Wood from SKME.

More specifically, this will be a review of time dependent and independent variables in water quality, along with standard and more novel groundwater sampling techniques.

The overall SAFESPUR and CIRIA (construction industry research and information association) Network event will provide an overview of long term groundwater monitoring and some of the related challenges involved in the design, implementation and interpretation of a long-term monitoring programme.

Delegates will also learn about approaches to sampling and analysis as well as data storage and integration, to allow delegates to:
    • understand the drivers for long term monitoring
    • learn what to consider when designing a long term monitoring programme
    • examine the approaches to sampling and analysis
    • learn about data storage and integration.
To take advantage of Kayleigh and Sam's presentation, the full course and a booking form can be viewed on the CIRIA event programme.
